Platts to use reported US MISO solar power RPI data

S&P Global Platts will start using actual solar data for the calculation of its Renewable Penetration Index for the US Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO). The change will be implemented starting Nov. 15, 2021.

The change follows MISO's recent decision to start reporting the solar data separately from its non-wind renewable fuel sources.

The change will allow Platts to publish more accurate solar RPI calculations for peak and off-peak, as well as more representative data as reported by the ISO for hours 1-24.

It will affect the daily calculations published in Megawatt Daily, Energy Trader, on Platts real-time fixed pages PEA 904, and AGP 2904, and in the Platts price database under the following codes:
