S&P Global Platts proposes to change the cargo size and description of its Thailand to Indonesia weekly sugar freight assessment, effective December 1, 2017.
Platts has observed that suppliers are now widely offering sugar cargoes in parcels of 25,000 mt (plus/minus 10%) from Thailand. These cargoes are largely being moved on the smaller Handysize vessels instead of the bigger Handymax tonnage.
Under this proposal, the Thailand (Laem Chabang) to Indonesia (Ciwandan) assessment, published under the code SYCCA00 in Dry Freight Wire, would be amended from reflecting 40,000 mt to 25,000 mt cargoes. Its description would also be amended from Handymax to Handysize.
