Following industry feedback, Platts confirms that it will discontinue its waterborne assessments for low sulfur diesel (500 ppm diesel) on the US Gulf Coast and US West Coast, effective January 1, 2014. Platts proposed to end the assessment in a subscriber note published on July 19, 2013. There is limited demand in the US for the product, as most demand has shifted to ultra low sulfur diesel. As such, spot market activity is extremely limited. Platts has previously discontinued its domestic pipeline assessments for low sulfur diesel. The US Gulf Coast assessment appears on Platts Global Alert Page 481 under the code POAES00. The US West Coast assessment appears on PGA Page 482 under the code AADDV00. These assessments also appear in US Marketscan and Oilgram Price Report. Please send any further questions and comments to americas_products@platts.com with a cc to pricegroup@platts.com. For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing.
