SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Red dye in ARA diesel, gasoil barges

Platts wishes to clarify its methodology in relation to red dye in ARA diesel and gasoil barges.

Platts reflects undyed material in its 0.1% gasoil, 50 ppm gasoil and ultra low sulfur diesel Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp barge assessments.

For trades reported through the Platts Market On Close assessment process for 0.1% and 50 ppm gasoil assessments, buyers may request the product be dyed at their own expense at the loadport and sellers should not refuse this request.

Buyers should inform sellers of their intention to dye the barge upon nomination of the barge.

For diesel, red dye is less common and may not be available from the loading terminal.

For MOC trades, buyers may request dying and sellers should try to accommodate such requests if dying is available at the loading terminal and possible to achieve logistically.

As with gasoil, buyers should inform the seller of their intention to dye the barge upon nomination of the barge.
