Platts specifies European MTBE, ETBE conversion rates

Following a period of research and market feedback, S&P Global Platts is specifying a dollars per metric ton to dollars per barrel conversion rate in its European MTBE and ETBE methodology, effective from Oct. 7, 2020.

Platts understands that market participants use a range of conversion rates depending on density and sought feedback on typical industry practice in a subscriber note published on Aug. 5, 2020, available here: https://rb.gy/8xmcth

This was followed by a decision on Sept. 9, 2020, in a subscriber note available here: https://rb.gy/sbhskp

Platts is updating its European petrochemicals specifications guide to reflect a standard conversion rate from $/mt to $/b of 8.45 for MTBE and 8.42 for ETBE.
