S&P Global Platts will discontinue publishing assessments for Brazil's Roncador crude, effective April 1, 2022, due to declining exports and extremely limited spot market activity.
Roncador production has been trending lower, recently falling below 150,000 b/d, according to the Brazil National Petroleum Agency. That production, down from a peak of near 400,000 b/d, is split across heavy (about 20 API) and medium (about 28 API) sub-grades of Roncador.
Platts' Roncador assessment reflects 750,000 barrel-typical waterborne cargoes, however exports of the grade have declined with most supply consumed at inland refineries.
The proposed discontinuation would affect the following symbols and their associated monthly averages:
The prices appear on Platts Global Alert page 280 and 281 and in Latin American Wire, Crude Oil Marketwire, Oilgram Price Report and on Platts Dimensions Pro.
