Platts updates rolling logic for New York Harbor ethanol barges

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has changed the logic for when it rolls prompt and forward-month assessments of New York Harbor barges to be the first publishing day after eight calendar days before the end of the month, effective Oct. 1, 2022.

The change better reflects standard nomination procedures of buyers providing nomination five days calendar days before a three-day loading period. The change does not affect the roll in a typical month but if the rolling date occurs on a non-publishing day, the roll will change to the first publishing day after eight calendar days from the end of the month rather than the first publishing day after seven calendar days from the end of the month.

For example, Nov. 28, 2022, would be the first day for the December any-month New York Harbor barge assessment as the front month, as Nov. 28 reflects the first publishing day after Nov. 24, the Thanksgiving holiday.
