SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts to increase frequency, update specs for Brazil pig iron export assessment

S&P Global Platts will update the specifications of the Brazilian pig iron assessment, in addition to increasing its frequency from monthly to weekly, from October 13, 2017.

This subscriber note's launch date of October 13 supersedes a similar note published Aug 31, 2017.

To capture the majority of Brazilian pig iron export shipments, Platts will change the basis location from FOB Ponta da Madeira port to FOB Southeastern ports.

Observed trade data showed that delivery lead times have also increased. Therefore, Platts will expand the loading window under assessment from 3-5 weeks to 4-8 weeks.

Platts also will increase the volume reflected to 25,000-35,000 mt from 10,000-20,000 mt.
