Platts launches North Asia to North Europe front-haul long-term container freight assessment Oct 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched a weekly long-term container freight assessment effective Oct. 1, 2025.

The assessment reflects the transactable value for transporting a 40-feet equivalent, or FEU, container on the North Asia-North Continent Europe route, for loading 10 to 365 days forward from the date of publication.

Platts initially proposed the above assessment on Aug. 8 in a subscriber note here, followed by a decision announced Sept. 1 here.

The long-term assessment complements Platts' current coverage by providing a window into the market's forward sentiment. While spot rates track real-time volatility, long-term agreements highlight shippers' willingness to lock in costs and carrier appetite to secure revenue stability.

The assessment has the following specifications:

Assessment nameNorth Asia – North Continent (Europe)
Units$/FEU
TimingLoading 10-365 days forward from the date of publication
Timestamp16:30 London close

The assessment follows the London publishing schedule and is published weekly in the Platts Containers Daily Report, Containers Monthly Report and fixed pages SHP0510, SHP0513, SHP0511, PGT4000, PGT4005 and PGT4001.

The new assessment, along with the monthly average, is published under below symbol codes:
