Following a period of feedback and industry consultation, S&P Global Platts has defined the maximum total sulfur and ethane content reflected in its benchmark JKM LNG price assessments, with effect from Oct. 1, 2019.
This change applies to bids, offers and trades for cargoes being delivered to ports in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China published during the Market on Close (MOC) assessment process.
The maximum total sulfur content and ethane content reflected in the Platts JKM specification are defined as 5 mg/Nm3 and 10%/mol, respectively.
Platts will continue to publish bids, offers and trades with total sulfur or ethane content that deviate from the standard specification, but these should state the maximum limits explicitly.
Bids, offers and trades with total sulfur or ethane content that deviate from the standard specification may be subject to normalization.
Unless different maximum limits are stated, the assumed maximum limits for total sulfur and ethane are 5 mg/Nm3 and 10%/mol, respectively, for bids, offers & trades reported in the MOC.
