The coking coal market has had to tackle a series of challenges over the last year including supply disruptions, changes in purchasing patterns and most recently the Russia/Ukraine conflict. This has impacted the availability of material in the spot market. At the same time, Platts has observed a desire among market participants for increased transparency in market reporting and an interest in developing shared standards and best practices on data submission for the purposes of coking coal price reporting.
