SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to discontinue Enfield crude assessment

S&P Global Platts is proposing to discontinue assessments for Australia's Enfield crude with effect from November 9, 2018, as its production will cease in November. Platts understands Woodside Petroleum will ship its final Enfield crude cargo in the middle of November from the oil field off Western Australia. The field is 60% owned by Woodside Petroleum, with the remaining 40% held by Mitsui Australia. The field was producing round 40,000 b/d when it started up, but output had fallen to 3,550 b/d by the second quarter of 2018, according to data from Woodside. In the interim period, Enfield crude's spot price will be assessed based on its gross product worth using the last known crude assay and yields, and values relative to other similar crudes in the region.
