Platts is opening a consultation on the future of its US Gulf Coast naphtha CIF assessments, and invites feedback on how its naphtha assessments should further evolve to reflect rapidly changing supply and demand trends. Significant growth in naphtha production, a result of liquids-rich gas drilling, has shifted the US from a net importer to a net exporter of light naphtha and natural gasoline, and these exports have increased substantially as rising US supplies will continue to overwhelm demand. Platts is studying whether and how its US Gulf Coast naphtha assessment methodology should evolve to reflect these changes in market environment, and welcomes all comments to americas_products@platts.com, with a cc to priegroup@platts.com. Please send all comments by October 31, 2013. For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing. Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon request.
