Following industry feedback, Platts will be introducing a Japanese yen conversion of the Platts Japan Korea Marker LNG assessment.
Platts publishes the JKM assessment in $/MMBtu, which represents the average of the two half-month cycles which comprise the first full month of delivery. Only the headline number will be converted into Japanese yen.
The conversion will be calculated on a daily basis using a currency exchange rate (symbol AAWFX00) published daily on working days in Singapore.
The addition of yen-converted JKM is to reflect regulatory changes taking place in Japan's domestic gas and power markets and to enhance the usability of JKM within the Japanese market by facilitating the calculation of spark spreads.
The revised assumptions will become effective October 17, 2016 on page NG1020 of Platts Natural Gas Alert and in the LNG Daily newsletter and on the Platts LNG Navigator and Platts Market Center services.
Platts continues to invite any comments or feedback to LNGeditorialteam@platts.com and copied to pricemethodology@platts.com.
For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing. Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon request.
