SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts amends Panama Canal freight cost to $0.21/MMBtu London (Platts)--

Effective September 18, 2017, Platts has amended the cost of transiting via the Panama Canal to $0.21/MMBtu, up $/0.03/MMBtu from the previous estimate of $0.18/MMBtu.

This is due to an increase of the toll from early October, approved by the Panama Canal Council in early August.

As a result Platts has increased the LNG freight routes that use the Panama Canal by $0.03/MMBtu.

These changes will feed through to netback calculations used to assess the Gulf Coast Marker (GCM) symbol LGCSM01, where netback calculations using the most economic route may be used as the basis for the assessment, and which are published in Platts LNG Daily and on the Natural Gas Alert page 1025.
