Platts is seeking feedback on a proposal to relaunch an assessment for US Gulf Coast Premium CBOB (also known as D grade) gasoline with effect from October 1, 2015.
The assessment would reflect gasoline moving on the prompt cycle on the Colonial Pipeline with input at Pasadena, Texas. The assessment will reflect the lowest fungible RVP shipping on the pipeline.
Platts' proposal to relaunch this assessment, which was discontinued at the start of 2015, reflects a notification from Colonial Pipeline that it will resume shipping the grade regularly.
This announcement followed the US Environmental Protection Agency's approval of Georgia's plans to remove the requirement to sell low sulfur, 7.0 RVP gasoline in the 45-county Georgia Fuel Area during the high ozone season, with effect from October 1, 2015. The Atlanta Premium CBOB (T grade) is expected to be replaced by D grade CBOB as a result.
Initial feedback responses from market participants have shown support in an assessment of this grade from October.
The assessment was previously published in the Platts assessment database under code AARQV00 for pipeline Premium CBOB. Platts intends to resume use of this code for the relaunched assesment.
Please send feedback by September 24 to Americas_products@platts.com and pricegroup@platts.com.
