Platts to separate Asian PP raf/inj October 17 (UPDATE)

Platts plans to separate the Asian daily and weekly polypropylene assessments for homopolymer raffia and injection grades into two individual grades from October 17, 2011.

Platts currently publishes daily PP homopolymer raffia and injection grades as a single assessment for CFR Far East Asia, and Middle East netbacks, and weekly assessments for CFR Southeast Asia, CFR South Asia, and domestic China.

From October 17, the following Oracle codes will be discontinued and replaced by new codes: Daily CFR Far East PP raffia/injection PHAIF00 Weekly China domestic PP raffia/injection AAOTY00 Daily FOB Middle East netback PP raffia/injection AAWHN00 Weekly CFR Southeast Asia PP raffia/injection PHAIG00 Weekly CFR South Asia PP raffia/injection AAAYQ00 From October 17, Oracle codes will be in place for:

Daily CFR Far East PP raffia Daily CFR Far East PP injection Daily FOB Middle East PP raffia netbacks Daily FOB Middle East PP injection netbacks Weekly domestic China raffia Weekly CFR Southeast Asia raffia Weekly CFR Southeast Asia injection Weekly CFR South Asia raffia Weekly CFR South Asia injection Weekly domestic China will replaced by one new Oracle code only reflecting PP raffia grade. The assessments for PP raffia, also known as flat yarn, reflect products with a melt flow index between 2.0-4.5, and for PP injection, the MFI is between 11.0-20.0.
