S&P Global Platts will change the Worldscale flat rate baskets used in several of its clean and dirty tanker assessments globally, effective Jan. 3, 2022, to more accurately reflect current spot trade flows on these routes.
In markets where freight is traded on a Worldscale basis, Platts publishes freight assessments in points, which reflect a percentage of the prevailing Worldscale annual flat rates. Platts also publishes equivalent $/mt freight rates for these markets, based on a basket of Worldscale flat rates comprising several key routes between the two regions specified in the assessment.
The current and new Worldscale flat rate baskets of the dirty and clean tanker assessments globally can be seen here: http://plts.co/1vkI30rQ4lt
These changes are based on a Platts analysis of trade flow data as well as market feedback on the key loading and discharge ports for spot flows on these routes.
Please send any further feedback, comments or questions to shipping@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com.
