Platts proposes to modify Chicago ethanol basis

Platts is proposing to modify the basis and location of its Chicago ethanol assessment to basis ITT (in-tank transfer) Kinder Morgan Argo.

Platts current basis and location for Chicago ethanol is FOB Chicago-area terminals.

After further review, Platts has determined that the viable terminals for ethanol in the Chicago area are limited to the Kinder Morgan Argo/Chicago facility, and at this facility, in-tank transfers are the predominant transactional basis due to the terminal operator's requirements.

Platts is proposing a launch date of October 1 for this change.

In this ITT market, the buyer retains the option to nominate the transfer date within a five-15 days forward range, and this nomination should take place one day in advance of the transfer date.
