Platts proposes to move MOC timestamp for all Americas fertilizer assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to change the timestamps of all its Americas fertilizer assessments to 1630 São Paulo time, from the present 1630 London time, effective Nov. 1, 2024.

This proposed change is intended to better capture the concentration of trading activity in the Americas fertilizer markets.

Details of the proposed changes are as follows:

Fertecon Ammonia assessments: All Americas assessments would move to 16:30 São Paulo time from 1630 London time, but all Middle Eastern, African, and European assessments would remain at 1630 London time.

Fertecon Nitrates assessments: All Americas assessments would move to 1630 São Paulo time from 1630 London time, but all Middle Eastern, African, and European assessments would remain at 1630 London time.

Fertecon Phosphates assessments: All Americas assessments would move to 1630 São Paulo time from 1630 London time, but all Middle Eastern, African, and European assessments would remain at 1630 London time.

Fertecon Potash assessments: All Americas assessments would move to 1630 São Paulo time from 16:30 London time, but all Middle Eastern, African, and European assessments would remain at 1630 London time.

Fertecon Sulphur assessments: All Americas assessments would move to 1630 São Paulo time from 1630 London time, but al Middle Eastern, African, and European assessments would remain at 1630 London time.

Fertecon Sulphuric Acid assessments: All Americas assessments would move to 1630 São Paulo time from 1630 London time, but all Middle Eastern, African, and European assessments would remain at 1630 London time.

Fertecon Urea assessments: All Americas assessments would move to 1630 São Paulo time from 16:30 London time, but all Middle Eastern, African, and European assessments would remain at 1630 London time.

Full details of Platts Fertilizer coverage can be found in the Specifications Guide.

As part of this proposal, Platts Americas fertilizer assessments would also follow a São Paulo holiday calendar, moving from the London holiday calendar. Further information can be found on the Platts pricing holiday schedule.

As of Nov. 1, bids, offers, trades, and indicative values would only be considered for the assessment if received before the 1630 São Paulo time cut-off. If the weekly publication day falls on public holidays in São Paulo, the Americas assessments would be published the preceding working day.

For example, the weekly Sulphuric Acid report is published on Wednesdays. As Nov. 20, 2024 is a Wednesday and a public holiday in São Paulo, all Americas Sulphuric Acid assessments, commentary and line-ups would be produced and published on Platts Connect and the Connect Data Browser on Nov. 19, 2024. They would appear in the weekly Sulphuric Acid report published Nov. 20, 2024, alongside EMEA and Americas content generated Wednesdays.
