S&P Global Platts will launch Lithium Carbonate DDP China, Lithium Hydroxide CIF North Asia and Lithium Hydroxide DDP China assessments on a weekly basis from September 7, 2018.
The launch of these assessments comes on the back of consistent and growing market demand for increased pricing information for the seaborne as well as Chinese domestic lithium carbonate and hydroxide markets.
The assessments reflect lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide with battery grade quality. All origins of lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide meeting these specifications are taken into consideration in the assessments. For the North Asia price points key importing ports in China, Japan and South Korea will be taken into consideration.
Minimum volumes for the China domestic assessments are one truckload while volumes between 5-150 mt per cargo for the Seaborne Lithium Hydroxide assessment are taken as standard. Other volumes will be normalized according to Platts standards.
The delivery window for Lithium Hydroxide CIF North Asia is 15-60 days while it is within 14 days for Lithium Hydroxide DDP China and Lithium Carbonate DDP China.
Unit & currency of measurement will be USD per metric ton for Lithium Hydroxide CIF North Asia and Yuan per metric ton for Lithium Carbonate DDP China and Lithium Hydroxide DDP China.
Payment terms are on a letter of credit basis for the Seaborne Lithium Hydroxide assessment and on a cash or letter of credit basis for the domestic Lithium Hydroxide and Lithium Carbonate assessments. Deliveries with other payment terms are normalized according to Platts standards.
The assessments will be published on Platts Metals Alert, page 8888 and in Metals Daily and will carry the following codes for the weekly assessments and monthly and quarterly averages:
BATCA04, BATCA03, BATCA05 (Lithium Carbonate DDP China), BATLH04, BATLH03, BATLH05 (Lithium Hydroxide CIF North Asia), BATHY04, BATHY04, BATHY04 (Lithium Hydroxide DDP China).
Please submit any feedback, comments or questions about this decision to: battery_metals@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com.
For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing. Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon request.
