Platts to amend Platts Container Index composition Oct 1

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will amend the composition and allocated weightages for the components of the Platts Container Index (PCTRI00) from Oct. 1, 2024.

The PCI is a weighted average of key Platts container assessments globally, indicating the movement of spot container freight worldwide. Platts will amend Platts container route assessments and revise weightages for index components to better reflect current containerized trade flows. The wider range of Platts container assessments used is a reflection of diversified trade flow volumes in the global container market.

The new index will be composed of the following:

Symbol Route Weightage(%)
PCR 13 North Asia-WC North America 34%
PCR 5 North Asia-EC North America 21%
PCR 23 Southeast Asia-WC North America 9%
PCR 25 Southeast Asia-EC North America 8%

PCR14 WC North America-North Asia 2%
