SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts discontinues Handymax iron ore assessments

Following a period of industry consultation and feedback, S&P Global Platts has discontinued Handymax West Coast India to North China and East Coast India to North China freight assessments. There was a prolonged absence of spot market activity on these routes for Handymax vessels. Over the last year, the majority of charterers employed the larger Supramax, Panamax or Capesize vessels to ship iron ore. Platts continues to publish the Supramax West Coast India to North China and East Coast India to North China as well as the Panamax West Coast India to North China assessments.

Platts first proposed the discontinuation in a subscriber note published May 31 (https://platts.com/subscriber-notes-details/27839502).

The discontinued routes are:

* PH1 Mormugao, West coast India Qingdao, North China 40KT IOFWI00 (Daily) * PH1 Mormugao, West coast India Qingdao, North China 40KT IOFWI03 (MAVG) * PH2 Haldia & Paradip, East coast India Qingdao, North China 40KT IOFEI00 (Daily) * PH2 Haldia & Paradip, East coast India Qingdao, North China 40KT IOFEI03 (MAVG)

Any further feedback or questions should be directed to shipping@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com.
