Subscriber note: Platts clarifies European VGO cargo size

Platts confirms that effective July 1, and following a proposal initially publish March 26, the cargo size reflected in the European low and high sulfur vacuum gasoil assessments was changed to reflect the increasing role played by larger cargo sizes in the European VGO market. As initially proposed, Platts updated the cargo size reflected in its European FOB and CIF cargo assessments to 15,000-35,000 mt, with assessments normalized to 30,000 mt. FOB cargoes of up to 55,000 mt are also eligible for the assessment process when arbitrage openings make these a significant market factor. Platts used to assesses European FOB and CIF LSVGO and HSVGO cargoes of 10,000-25,000 mt, with FOB cargoes of up to 50,000 mt eligible for assessment when arbitrage openings make larger cargoes a significant market factor. Platts will continue to monitor and review changes in spot trading patterns in the European VGO markets. This will include such factors as location, interdependence on other assessments and so on.
