Platts will amend the formula for calculating differentials to Dated Brent on Asia Pacific crude grades, to reflect the differential against the underlying Dated Brent price for the corresponding month.
The change will come into effect September 1, 2009. The date for the amendment has been deferred from the previously announced date to explain the changes in greater detail at the Platts methodology forum in Singapore, August 17.
Currently, the differentials are calculated against the prevailing 10-21 day Asian Dated Brent assessment.
The methodology amendment will align Asia Pacific grades with Dated Brent differentials for other regional grades, such as West African crudes.
Please see the methodology update on MethodologyAndSpecifications.aspx for further details.
