Platts to separate PP raffia/injection assessments October 17

Platts plans to separate the Asian daily and weekly polypropylene assessments for homopolymer injection and raffia grades into two individual grades from October 17 , 2011. Platts currently publishes daily PP homopolymer injection and raffia grades as a single assessment for CFR Far East Asia, and weekly assessments for CFR Southeast Asia and CFR South Asia.

From October 17, the Oracle code PHAIF00 for the daily CFR Far East Asia assessment will reflect raffia grade. A new Oracle code will be assigned for the daily CFR Far East Asia injection grade.

Similarly, the weekly Oracle codes of PHAIG00 for CFR Southeast Asia and AAAYQ00 for CFR South Asia, will reflect raffia grade, with two new Oracles codes to be assigned to the respective injection grade assessments.

The assessments for PP raffia, also known as flat yarn, reflect products with a melt flow index between 2.0-4.5, and for PP injection, the MFI is between 11.0-20.0. Other specifications will remain the same as currently used for the combined PP raffia/injection grade.
