Reminder: Changes for IE Singapore data subscribers start 20 Aug

Commodity: Oil, Petrochemicals Region: Asia

As previously announced, effective with the update for 19 August, Platts will adjust the way we distribute the weekly import/export statistics published by International Enterprise Singapore, a division of the Singapore Ministry of Trade and Industry.

This change will affect FTP Dispatch subscribers to dispatch categories IO (petroleum) and IP (petrochemicals), and realtime data subscribers to market center 19t.

IE Singapore publishes weekly statistics reflecting import, total export, domestic export and re-export activity between Singapore and other countries for over 60 commodities.

When there is activity in any of these 4 categories, IES publishes 8 values -- value and volume figures for the active category(s) and 0's for the others.

Platts sets up new symbols whenever IES reports activity in a new country/commodity combination.

However, many symbols have no activity in a given week; Platts has been backfilling prices for these 'idle' symbols with 0's.

Starting next week, Platts will stop this practice -- if IES publishes no values for a given symbol, it will not update that week.

This change will reduce the number of 0 values published each week in these categories by 70-80 percent.
