S&P Global Platts has updated the timestamp reflected in its Carbon Credit assessments to 1200 GMT, effective Aug. 9, 2021.
This follows on from a decision note published July 6, 2021, and available here: https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/070621-platts-to-change-assessment-time-for-carbon-credit-assessments-to-1200-gmt
Platts has made this change to better reflect the global nature of the developing carbon credit market and believes that a timestamp of 1200 GMT better reflects a global marketplace.
As part of this decision, Platts has launched new currency conversions to reflect the updated assessment time.
Further, Platts has amended the publication schedule for its carbon assessments to better reflect a global holiday schedule.
Platts Carbon assessments will now be published on a new holiday cadence that only reflects global holidays where all Platts offices are closed.
Previously, Platts Carbon assessments were timestamped to 4:30 pm London time and reflected a UK holiday schedule.
Platts considers the timestamp of record of a company's intent to buy/sell as the time that Platts receives the information and not the time a message was sent by the company or trading party.
Platts also continues to invite feedback as to whether it should consider separate assessments for any key values at additional timestamps.
