Platts to amend European silicon volume specification

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is to amend the volume specification for its weekly silicon 553-grade in-warehouse Europe assessment to a typical 1-5 truckload quantity from its current volume of three truckloads, effective Sept. 6.

Platts has observed that the standard traded volume is more variable than three truckloads, and the change aims to better reflect typical market practice.

The specification change was initially proposed on July 24:

Full specifications can be found in Platts non-ferrous metals specifications guide at the following link:

The silicon 553 grade in-warehouse Europe assessment is published in Platts Metals Daily, on pages PMA/MTL407 on Platts Metals Alert and Platts Non Ferrous Metals Alert, in the Platts Market Center, Platts Dimensions Pro and in the Platts price database under the code AAIUT00 and the corresponding monthly average MMAZH03.
