Platts proposes to change to frequency, specifications for Turkish CFR billet assessment

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to increase the frequency of its CFR Turkey steel billet assessment (SB01040) to daily from the current monthly frequency, effective Oct 2, 2023.

The move to daily frequency is proposed to better reflect current market conditions following a change in international trade flows.

Platts is additionally proposing to update the quality and timing specifications for the assessment, reflecting the most commonly traded grade and reported lead times.

The proposed specification changes are as follows:

Current specification Proposed specification
Quality GOST 380-94 3SP
Timing Delivery in 2-6 weeks Delivery in 2-8 weeks

Platts CFR Turkey billet assessment is published in SBB Steel Markets Daily, Steel Price Report, via Platts Metals alerts and on Platts Dimensions Pro.
