S&P Global Platts specifies location basis for Lithium Carbonate CIF North Asia assessment

S&P Global Platts has specified the location basis for the Platts Lithium Carbonate CIF North Asia assessment as CIF Shanghai, China, effective August 7, 2020.

Platts first launched the proposal on June 24, 2020 in a subscriber note available here: http://plts.co/uJml30r37xC

Market participants across the industry stated that the proposed location basis is reflective of the current spot market trade flow.

Platts continues to reflect cargoes delivered into other North Asian ports, such as in Japan and South Korea, in the assessment, after normalizing to the stated basis port. Freight and quality differentials for lithium carbonate cargoes delivered to different north Asian ports, as well as the spreads and dynamics between different regions may be considered in the normalization process.
