SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts to discontinue some sugar freight assessments

Due to a prolonged absence of spot market activity on the routes given below, Platts will discontinue these assessments with effect from October 16, 2017.

Platts first proposed the discontinuation in a subscriber note published July 17 (https://www.platts.com/subscriber-notes-details/27856089).

Significant changes in the trading patterns and flows have eroded liquidity on the Atlantic sugar freight routes such as Brazil to Ghana, Russia and the UAE.

In the Asia Pacific market, the routes from Thailand to Kenya and Guatemala to China as well as South Korea have seen very few spot fixtures over the last two years.
