SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts to discontinue spark spread methodology and spec guide

Following a period of industry feedback, Platts has made a decision to discontinue its Spark Spreads Methodology and Specification Guide and certain daily spark spread calculations due to outdated calculation inputs.

Effective October 9, 2017, Platts will no longer publish multiple fuel spark spreads. The last day of publication will be October 6, 2017. Platts will continue to publish natural gas spark spreads associated with locational marginal power prices and bilateral power prices. These natural gas spark spreads will serve as replacements for the discontinued numbers. Information about these spark spreads is available in the Platts North American Electricity Methodology.

The spark spreads mentioned in this note are currently published daily on Platts Electricity Alert page 460, 461, and 462, Platts Energy Trader and available in Market Data category EK.
