SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to define maximum total sulfur and ethane content in JKM LNG specification

S&P Global Platts is proposing to define the maximum total sulfur and ethane content reflected in its benchmark JKM LNG price assessments, with effect from October 1, 2019.

This change would apply to bids, offers and trades for cargoes being delivered to ports in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and China published during the Market on Close (MOC) assessment process.

Under this proposal, the maximum total sulfur content and ethane content reflected in the Platts JKM specification would be defined as 5mg/Nm3 and 10%/mol respectively.

Platts would only publish bids and offers that state the maximum total sulfur or ethane content explicitly, should these differ from the defined maximum limits. Bids, offers & trades with total sulfur or ethane content that deviate from the standard specification may be subject to normalization.

Unless a different maximum limit is stated, the assumed maximum limit for total sulfur and ethane would be 5mg/Nm3 and 10%/mol respectively for bids, offers & trades reported in the MOC.

Platts previously proposed defining the maximum total sulfur content with effect from September 2, 2019. Platts is extending the feedback period for this proposal to allow for further comments on the maximum sulfur content reflected in JKM.
