Platts revises freight calculation in Export price equivalent – ex-works European sugar assessment

S&P Global Platts has revised the freight calculation in the 'Export price equivalent – ex-works' assessment (SGBCC00), effective July 29.

This follows a proposal note, which was published on June 1 here: https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/060121-platts-proposes-amendment-to-freight-calculation-in-the-export-price-equivalent-ex-works-european-sugar-assessment

A decision note was also published July 1 here:

The assessment was previously calculated using a price of Eur30/mt for freight, which is described in the methodology and specifications guide as an average cost to bring sugar to Antwerp from mills across Continental Europe.

Platts has removed the fixed nature of the freight cost, allowing the freight value to be revised on an ongoing basis. Platts has also specified 'mills in Northwest Europe' instead of 'mills across Continental Europe', following market feedback.
