After observing a decline in traded volumes over the past two years and following preliminary market research, Platts is proposing to discontinue all of its Belgian electricity assessments and to discontinue a number of daily Dutch electricity assessments effective January 31, 2012.
For the Belgian market, Platts is proposing to discontinue all daily assessments and consequently all daily Belgian spark spread assessments.
Platts would continue to publish the daily Platts Pan-European Power (PEP) Index and Continental (Conti) Power Index without the Belgian pricing element.
For the Dutch market, Platts is proposing to discontinue the following daily base and peak assessments: second and third month ahead; second, third and fourth quarter ahead; and third year ahead.
Consequently, Platts would also discontinue the second month ahead and second quarter ahead daily spark spread assessments.
