In January 2015, Platts began publishing a list of additives reflected in its FOB Singapore gasoil assessments. This followed an initial review of the merchantability of additives reflected in its assessment process.
As part of its extensive survey, Platts received submissions from market participants. These were studied and used to compile the published list of additives which was intended to provide clarity to market participants regarding which additives are generally considered to be merchantable and accepted for cargoes delivered through the Platts Market on Close assessment process in Singapore.
Platts has continued to survey the market and has cited two further additives which have been historically acceptable in gasoil delivered on a FOB Singapore basis. They are cold flow improvers Innospec OFI 7650 and CHIMEC CH6835. These additives have been in use at the Singapore Refining Company since 2009.
Platts will continue to review other additives submitted by market participants for inclusion into the list. Market participants who have not submitted lists of acceptable additives may still do so, and Platts will update the additives list after review of any further submissions.
