Platts to launch LDPE CFR South Asia daily spot assessment

Following market feedback, S&P Global Platts has decided to launch a daily spot assessment for general-purpose low density polyethylene on a CFR South Asia basis on Sept. 1, 2021.

The new assessment is to meet growing demand for pricing information in the South Asian LDPE market, and will complement the Platts suite of polyethylene assessments into South Asia.

Platts first proposed the launch in a subscriber note published June 17, 2021: https://bit.ly/3ehsimr

The new LDPE CFR South Asia assessment will reflect 100-250 mt cargoes for delivery 15-45 days forward from the date of publication into Nhava Sheva and Mundra.

The assessment will also reflect LDPE with a melt flow index of 0.3-4.0, and letter of credit of up to 30 days.

Pricing information reflecting product with other specifications, and for delivery into other ports in India and South Asia may be normalized to the stated standard.

Platts will publish the new LDPE CFR South Asia assessment in $/mt at the close of Asian trade at 4:30 pm Singapore time (0830 GMT).

The new daily assessment will follow the Singapore publishing schedule, and its weekly average will be published at the close of Asian trade every Wednesday.
