Platts to replace EC Spot Auction data with daily carbon inputs

After a period of industry consultation, S&P Global Platts has decided to replace existing quarterly carbon spot auction prices as an input for its Dutch and UK hydrogen valuations with newly launched daily Platts carbon pricing data, effective Aug. 2, 2021.

Platts launched June 18 assessments for the EU Emission Trading System and UK Emission Trading Scheme, commonly referred to as EUAs and UKAs. The newly launched assessments will feed into the Netherlands Hydrogen Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) and UK Hydrogen Autothermal Reforming (ATR) assessments.

The existing carbon spot price PCECB00 will be replaced with EU Emission Allowance Nearest December (EADLP00) and UK Emission Allowance Nearest December (AIDUK00), respectively.
