As previously announced, Platts has implemented new file creation and delivery platforms for its Market Data (formerly FTP Dispatch) service. In addition to improvements in reliability and scalability, the new system enables Platts to significantly improve delivery times for most market data.
Effective Tuesday, August 2, 2011, Platts will switch to the new, improved delivery schedule. For most cuts, this will mean that Market Data files will be available on the Platts FTP and web sites 30 minutes earlier than they are now. For complete information on the new delivery times, see Chapter 2 of the Market Data User Guide at: http://www.platts.com/IM.Platts.Content/SubscriberServices/SoftwareUserManua ls/MarketDataUserGuide.pdf or http://bit.ly/MktDataUserGuide Note that the schedule changes will not REQUIRE any software or scheduling changes by subscribers or vendor partners. Users who make no changes will continue to receive the same files at the same standard delivery times as they do now. However, to take advantage of the improved delivery times, download schedules should be adjusted at your convenience.
In order to ease migration to the new platform, Platts is keeping the legacy system running in parallel for a limited time. Users still on the legacy platform will need to complete the switch to the new one in order to take advantage of the improved delivery times. Also, note that Platts expects to complete the shutdown of the legacy system within the next 30 days.
