Platts proposes to amend European silicon volume specification

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to amend the volume specification for its weekly silicon 553-grade in-warehouse Europe assessment to a typical 1-5 truckload quantity from its current volume of three truckloads, effective Sept. 6.

Platts has observed that the standard traded volume is more variable than three truckloads, and the proposed change aims to better reflect typical market practice.

Full specifications can be found in Platts non-ferrous metals specifications guide at the following link:

/content/dam/spglobal/ci/en/documents/platts/en/our-methodology/methodology-specifications/Global_NonFerrous.pdf

The silicon 553 grade in-warehouse Europe assessment is published in Platts Metals Daily, on pages PMA/MTL407 on Platts Metals Alert and Platts Non Ferrous Metals Alert, in the Platts Market Center, Platts Dimensions Pro and in the Platts price database under the code AAIUT00 and the corresponding monthly average MMAZH03.

Platts invites feedback on this proposal to EMEAMetalsTeam@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com by Aug. 4.
