S&P Global Platts is seeking feedback on a proposal to begin publishing a daily Kalimantan Floating Crane assessment in USD/mt from September 2, 2019.
Platts currently surveys the cost of floating cranes used for loading cargoes onto gearless [Panamax] ships in the Kalimantan region, and is proposing formally publishing the floating crane charge going forward.
The spot floating crane cost is a crucial component in relating the free-on-board [FOB] South Kalimantan price of Indonesian thermal coal loading on gearless ships that do not have loading/discharging equipment fitted on-board, to geared ships that have the equipment on board.
Platts is constantly reviewing its methodology to ensure assessments reflect standard traded parameters in a given market.
