SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to discontinue some sugar freight assessments

S&P Global Platts proposes to discontinue a series of sugar freight assessments due to a prolonged absence of spot market activity on these routes. Platts proposes to discontinue these assessments with effect from October 16, 2017.

Significant changes in the trading patterns and flows have eroded liquidity on the Atlantic sugar freight routes such as Brazil to Ghana, Russia and the UAE. In the Asia Pacific market, the Thailand to Kenya and Guatemala to China as well as South Korea routes have seen very few spot fixtures over the last two years.
