Several Platts Carbon Intensity Premiums, Carbon-Accounted Assessments impacted by changes to input data

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, clarifies that several carbon intensity premiums and carbon-accounted assessments across the crude, natural gas, LNG and methanol markets are impacted by changes to input data, effective July 15.

Platts calculates carbon intensity premiums using its price assessments for voluntary carbon credits, as well as carbon intensity data provided by the Commodity Insights analytics team.

Changes to the methodology used by the Commodity Insights analytics team to calculate these carbon intensities took effect July 14 and will be reflected in Platts calculations for crude and natural gas CI premiums and carbon-accounted LNG effective July 15. Changes were reflected in all related carbon-accounted methanol assessments on the US Gulf Coast from July 14.

A list of the Platts carbon intensity premiums and carbon-accounted assessments impacted by this change in input data is listed below.

Crude, natural gas carbon intensity premiums

A full list of Platts' crude and natural gas CI premiums and costs affected by this change can be found in the Carbon Intensity and Low Carbon Markets Specifications Guide.(opens in a new tab) Platts continues to utilize the latest available data from the Commodity Insights analytics team for its Refined Product Carbon Intensity Premiums.

These assessments appear in Crude Oil Marketwire, Gas Daily, Asia-Pacific-Arab Gulf Marketscan, European Marketscan, US Marketscan; and in the fixed pages AGP1927, PGA4200, PCR4200, PGA4201, PCR4201, PGA4202, PCR4202, PGA4203, PCR4203, PGA4204, PCR4204, PGA4205, PCR4205, PGA4206, PCR4206, PGA4207, and PRF4207.
