Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is updating the location specifications for the Sunflower Oil FOB Black Sea assessment, effective July 15, 2022.
Platts will now accept Izmail and Reni as alternative FOB ports for the assessment at times when the original basis port of Chornomorsk is not operational.
In line with the published methodology, Platts may also still refer to price information from other Black Sea ports or CFR/CIF prices in relevant destinations for this assessment.
Platts will continue to use prevailing spot freight rates and origin adjustments to normalize any such information to FOB Chornomorsk, or now to Reni/Izmail when Chornomorsk is not operational.
Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Chornomorsk port remains non-operational at the date of publication of this subscriber note, and this methodology change is intended to ensure that the Sunflower Oil FOB Black Sea assessment continues to reflect exports of sunflower oil from Ukrainian ports.
