Platts proposes to begin publishing global I-RECs renewable electricity assessment

Platts, a division of S&P Commodities Insights, is proposing to begin publishing global I-RECs renewable electricity certificates assessments for Brazil, Turkey and India from Sept. 5.

The I-RECs assessments would be for the year-before and current-year vintage, rolling over on each calendar year. For example, the vintages of assessment will be 2021 and 2022 until Dec. 31, 2022, and will roll into 2022 and 2023 on Jan, 1, 2023.

These will be assessed at the following times and units of measures suited for each region: For Brazil, assessments would be published in BRL/MWh, USD/MWh and Eur/MWh at a 17:30 Brasilia/15:30 Houston close. For Turkey, assessments are proposed to be in Eur/MWh and USD/MWh at a 16:30 London close. For India, the I-RECs assessments would be INR/MWh, USD/MWh and Eur/MWh at a 17:30 Singapore/15:00 India timestamp.

I-RECs are a certificate that represents the environmental attributes of renewable and represents one megawatt hour of electricity generated from renewable sources, tracked within the I-REC Standard registry.
