Platts adds Plaquemines to North American LNG feedgas cost assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has updated its daily North American LNG feedgas cost assessments to include Plaquemines in Louisiana, effective July 14.

Furthermore, Plaquemines will be incorporated into the daily computation of the Average US LNG Feedgas Cost (ALNFG00) and Average USGC LNG Feedgas Cost (ALNFH00) from Oct. 1.

Platts North American LNG feedgas cost assessments currently reflect indicative facility feedgas costs for seven major liquefaction facilities: Calcasieu Pass, Sabine Pass LNG, Corpus Christi LNG, Cove Point LNG, Cameron LNG, Freeport LNG, and Elba Island.

Following the startup of production at Venture Global LNG's Plaquemines in December 2024, which has boosted US LNG feedgas demand, Platts will add Plaquemines as the eighth US LNG export facility in its North American LNG feedgas cost assessments.

In line with the other US LNG export facilities, proportional flow data and transport costs from S&P Global Commodity Insights will be used to create a volume-weighted average using the following Platts Gas Indices for Plaquemines: Texas Eastern, ELA (IGBBS00), Tennessee, Louisiana, 500 leg (IGBBP00), and Colombia Gulf, La. (IGBBG00).

Further details on the North American feedgas model can be found here .

Platts announced the decision to add Plaquemines to North American LNG feedgas cost assessments May 2 and released a clarification note on the gas indices under Plaquemines May 29, having proposed the change here March 27 and here April 14.
