Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to amend the methodology for its DDGS assessments by adding a Profat, combined protein and fat, specification to the following assessments, from Sept. 5.
Platts is proposing to further define the quality specification with the addition of a 34% Profat minimum quality specification to the Dried Distillers Grains with Solubles assessments. Market participants typically specify a Profat quality specification in their market activity, in addition to individual minimum levels for protein and fat. This proposal is based on market feedback that the majority of production volume and trade standards are now based on a 34% Profat minimum.
Current protein and fat specifications would be unchanged for both assessments:
Please send any feedback, questions or comments on the proposed specification change to MRTS_GrainsRiceOilseeds@spglobal.com and pricegroup@spglobal.com by July 28, 2023.
For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing. Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon requested.
