SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts to launch four new dirty tanker assessments

Platts confirms that it will launch four new dirty tanker assessments, effective September 1, 2016.

The new assessments will reflect established trade routes for crude oil from the North Sea and West Africa, and will be based on both VLCC and Suezmax tonnage. They will be published on the Dirty Tankerwire and fixed page PGA MH1970.

The three new VLCC assessments will be published on a lump-sum basis and expressed as US dollars per voyage, to reflect how these routes are traded. Platts will also publish the equivalent US dollar per metric ton value for this route. The Suezmax assessment will be published on a Worldscale basis and Platts will publish the US Dollar per metric ton value for the route.

VLCC HOUND POINT-FAR EAST: This assessment will reflect the lump-sum freight rate for carrying a 270,000 mt cargo of Forties crude from Hound Point to Far Eastern ports in South Korea and China. The assessment will be published under the following codes:

VLCC WEST AFRICA-WEST COAST INDIA: This assessment will reflect the freight rate to move a 260,000 mt West African crude oil cargo to the West Coast of India. The assessment will be based on loadings from WAF terminals such as Qua Iboe and Forcados and discharges at ports on the West Coast of India such as Jamnagar and Sikka. The assessment will be published under the following codes:
