Platts is launching two additional forward physical assessments for Center-South Brazil raw granulated cane sugar of standard VHP on July 12, 2016. The launch of these two new assessments follow a proposal that was published April 12 2016, with a decision published June 13, 2016.
The two additional forward calendar month assessed loading periods are in addition to the current month assessment, giving a total of three forward month assessments: front-month, second-month and third-month.
In line with Platts current methodology the assessments would roll to the following calendar month on the 11th of each calendar month unless that day is not a business day, in which case the assessment rolls over on the next business day. For example on April 8 Platts would assess Brazil CS VHP for loading over April, May and June. On April 11 this would roll to May, June and July.
The assessments will be published as a premium to the relevant ICE Sugar No. 11 Futures contract and as an outright price at 16:30 London time. The assessments will appear in the Platts Kingsman Daily Sugar Market Report and on the real time Platts Agriculture Alert under the following codes:
Raw Sugar Brazil VHP CS Second Month Flat Price SGAAW00 Raw Sugar Brazil VHP CS Second Month Premium SGAAX00 Raw Sugar Brazil VHP CS Third Month Flat Price SGAAY00 Raw Sugar Brazil VHP CS Third Month Premium SGAAZ00
Other assessment parameters will reflect the current Brazil CS raw sugar VHP assessment methodology including a quality of minimum polarization of 99 Pol and maximum 99.49 Pol at time of shipment, cargo location basis FOB Santos, typical cargo size of 50,000 mt and a loading rate as 10,000 mt per weather working day.
According to Platts methodology, these assessments will be made using transactional information collected and published daily, including trades, bids and offers.
Platts welcomes all further feedback and questions on the new assessments and the specifications.
